The next stage of the Sketch Tour Portugal Reload is in the Azores, from 28 July to 3 August, with the participation of international sketcher Maru Godàs (Spain), national sketcher Mário Linhares and Azorean writer Joel Neto.
The island of Terceira is the first stop on this creative journey, where participants will have the opportunity to visit Monte Brasil, the historical city of Angra do Heroísmo and places such as Serra do Cume, Algar do Carvão, Furnas do Enxofre and the natural pools of Biscoitos. This is followed by São Jorge and visits to Fajã da Caldeira de Santo Cristo, Fajã do Ouvidor, Fajã dos Vimes and Vigia da Baleia, among other places of interest. The itinerary continues on the island of Faial, where you cannot miss the visits to the Capelinhos Vulcan, the mills of Lomba da Conceição and Horta.
The aim is that all these experiences go from reality to fiction through the drawn impressions and narratives of those involved. In response to the challenge launched by the collective of artists Urban Sketchers, with the support of Turismo de Portugal, which aims to promote tourism supply and literary tourism through an integrated project that combines writing and drawing, the Sketch Tour Portugal Reload challenges the authors to share the emotions aroused by the landscapes, history, heritage and culture of the Azores archipelago.
After the success of the first edition in 2017, the
Sketch Tour Portugal Reload aims to produce over five hundred drawings, ten webisodes, a documentary, a multimedia exhibition and a book, which brings together texts and drawings and which will have a preface by Mia Couto. The website
www.SketchTourPortugal.com will be updated with the results of the different editions of the project and with a soundscape library that will help create a new perception of the experiences and the destination, through more accessible content.
Throughout 2021, the Sketch Tour Portugal Reload will write and draw Portugal, bring together national and foreign talent around the country and inspire future journeys through the different territories and experiences that the destination offers.
This project aims to position Portugal at the top of the national and international tourist preferences, and to demonstrate that the destination is prepared to receive all those who wish to enjoy nature, heritage, culture and all the assets that continue to make Portugal a destination of choice.
