A golfing career became the goal following the organization of Cambridge University’s US tour in 1989. A great experience was enjoyed playing an array of classic, old courses. This reinforced the appreciation of how golf courses should be eased into the landscape formed playing many of the great links and inland courses of the UK.

This career has led to involvement with golf course developments all over the world. He has been the lead designer on over 30 new course developments in 12 countries as well as for many existing course projects including 5 Open Championship venues.

Este percurso levou ao envolvimento na construção de campos de golfe no mundo inteiro. Foi o principal designer em mais de 30 projectos em 12 países e participou em muitos projectos incluindo 5 dos locais onde se realizou o Open Championship.

A great deal of experience has been gained in Portugal. In fact this is the country with most projects for Mackenzie & Ebert although many are still to get to the construction stage as they are going through the country’s very complex planning regulations. Martin was the lead designer for the courses designed by Donald Steel & Company at Aroeira II, Santo Estêvão and Campo Real.
