Turismo de Portugal and the Portuguese Army have signed a co-operation protocol aimed at strengthening professional training in military messes, namely the Algarve Military Mess, and creating accommodation solutions for students from the Institute's Hotel and Tourism Schools Network (EHT).
The agreement establishes access for EHT students to accommodation in military units and the possibility of carrying out internships in Army messes. It also provides for ongoing training programmes for military and civilian staff, helping to enhance skills in the areas of hospitality, management and tourism.
In a context where access to accommodation is a determining factor in attending EHTs, this protocol, which is the result of the Army providing affordable accommodation in various units across the country, facilitates this condition for students at the Tourism Schools of Portugal. Students will also have the chance to do internships in the restaurant/bar and kitchen/pastry areas at Army messes, enjoying free accommodation during this period.
Signed by Carlos Abade, President of Turismo de Portugal, and Lieutenant General Morgado Silveira, the protocol allows for the development of joint initiatives in areas of common interest, making the most of existing infrastructures and training capacities, with a view to qualifying human resources and sharing technical and pedagogical knowledge.
