Portuguese Presidency of the Council of the European Union, under the coordination of the Ministry of Economy and Digital Transition, organises the High-Level Forum for a Sustainable Tourism on May 14th 2021.
This is an opportunity to participate in a debate that will discuss the future of Tourism.
Having sustainable tourism as the main issue of the forum, the debate will focus on three perspectives of sustainability:
A) How skills can enhance a better tourism?
Debate on workers' qualifications needs and the challenges of education and training in the tourism sector as key drivers for a socially sustainable development of the sector.
B) Is tourism one step ahead in the digital transition and innovation?
Debate on innovation as the capacity to boost an economic growth based on sustainable tourism; and on digital transformation as an imminent process to face sustainability challenges.
C) Promote the green and sustainable transition on territories and regions
Debate on the challenges of a green transition in the tourism sector, territorial cohesion and social inclusion and its importance to new approaches in tourism and paving the way towards a sustainable future.
The three sessions will be broadcast parallelly in a digital format.
A plenary session (in a VTC format) with major stakeholders of the sector follows the three dedicated debates.
The conclusions reached during the morning sessions will be presented in the closed Ministers' level meeting occurring in the afternoon.
