The Visit Portugal Literary Club was presented on the 15th of February in Óbidos, during the event Latitudes – Literatura e Viajantes (Latitudes – Literature and Travellers). The purpose of the project is to revolutionise literary tourism in Portugal, creating new business opportunities and strategic partnerships between sector professionals.
The initiative aims to promote collaboration between businessmen, entrepreneurs, territories and cultural agents. The focus is on creating contact networks that foster strategic partnerships and stimulate cooperation in tourist, cultural and economic initiatives. Workshops, meetings and networking events will provide the opportunity for synergies to be explored and good practices shared, promoting the development of new ideas and businesses in the sector.
The target audience includes literary tourism students, entrepreneurs interested in innovating in the sector and promoters of literary itineraries and events. It is also aimed at local communities keen to preserve and promote their literary heritage, encouraging economic and tourism development, especially in regions outside the major tourist circuits.
The creation of this platform is an important step in boosting literary tourism in Portugal, promoting an environment of innovation and collaboration. Two strategic pillars - contact networks and continuous training - will enable activities such as masterclasses, workshops, gatherings, visits to literary events and a National Literary Tourism Encounter to be staged throughout the year. A website is also planned.
In addition, a shared calendar will be created, where all members - students, entrepreneurs, promoters and communities - will be able to contribute and collaborate in the organisation of events or initiatives related to the promotion of literary tourism. This collaborative space will be a unique meeting point, where everyone can work together to build a more dynamic and promising future for literary tourism in Portugal.
