Public consultation of the Sustainable Tourism Draft Action Plan - until 11th July 2024

The European Commission, along with the EU Urban Agenda for the European Sustainable Tourism Partnership, promotes a public consultation on the draft Sustainable Tourism Action Plan that aims to transform the urban tourist landscape, making it more resilient, inclusive, and environmentally aware.

This public consultation will run until the 11th July 2024 and seeks to collect input from the public and all agents involved, with a view to perfecting and improving the urban tourist landscape, making it more resilient, inclusive, and environmentally aware.

Developed through broad collaboration between members of the Sustainable Tourism Thematic Partnership, within the scope of the Urban Agenda for the EU, the plan defines six actions aiming to tackle the main challenges faced in urban tourism today:

​_  guidelines for enabling climate-friendly and resilient urban destinations
_  support for destinations to enable the use of sustainability certifications for the SMEs tourism transition
_  developing competences for tourism professionals and local & regional authorities in digital touristic services & products
_  more resilient and sustainable destinations through diversification of tourism offer
_  destinations accessible for all
_  strategies on the protection of local retail as an asset for tourism

The consultation covers the general objectives of the aforementioned Action Plan, as well as the specific aspects related to each action, and is available in the  area dedicated to the partnership.

This is the time to give your opinion on the relevance and feasibility of actions, share recommendations for improvements, suggest ways to overcome challenges, share ideas, and sow seeds for potential collaborations. Everyone's participation ensures that the Action Plan for Sustainable Tourism is a robust, comprehensive document that reflects the diverse needs of the tourism sector.
