The 12 Hospitality and Tourism Schools run by Turismo de Portugal have opened 1,945 places on courses covering key areas such as Cooking, Pastry, Bakery, Catering and Beverages, Hospitality/Accommodation, Tourist Information and Entertainment, amongst others, offering practical, work-oriented training. Applications cover Technological Specialisation Courses in Portuguese and English (Level 5), Vocational Courses (Level 4) and On-the-Job Training Courses.

The application process is online and free of charge for Portuguese nationals and EU residents, and can be completed at the website. For Vocational Courses, the application deadline is 19 June, and for Technological Specialisation Courses, it is 16 July.

For the 2026/2027 academic year, two new Level 4 vocational courses have been introduced – Tourism Technician and Catering and Restaurant Technician – with the aim of providing students with a more comprehensive and integrated understanding of cooking, pastry-making and catering courses, without compromising the specialisation they wish to pursue in the 2nd and 3rd years. In the Technological Specialisation courses, the Food Product Innovation and Development course has also been created, and the range of courses offered in English has been expanded with the addition of the Pastry and Bakery Arts course.

The courses at the Portuguese Tourism Schools offer a unique opportunity for those seeking to access high-quality training and build a solid career in the tourism sector. With courses available in Portuguese and English, they adopt an innovative approach that integrates technology, digital resources and a strong practical component, preparing qualified professionals who are well-suited to the sector’s demands.

Portugal’s 12 internationally recognised tourism schools, certified by the World Tourism Organisation (TedQual), train over 2,500 students annually, with an employability rate exceeding 90%, whilst also providing continuing professional development to over 35,000 industry professionals. With teaching focused on digitalisation, innovation and sustainability, these schools play a strategic role in training talent for a sector that continues to grow and consolidate its position as a driving force of the national economy.
