Writers and Urban Sketchers showcase the best of the country

Destination promotion

22.04.2021

The Sketch Tour Portugal Reload returns with routes that go through different scenarios and landscapes of the mainland and the islands, which will go from reality to fiction through the narratives of national writers and the drawings of the sketchers, national and international, invited to participate in the project.

After the success of the first edition in 2017, the Sketch Tour Portugal Reload 2021 has the participation of twenty sketchers, ten national and ten international, from Spain, Italy, France, United Kingdom, Sweden and Egypt. The foreign sketchers include Lapin, Stefano Faravelli, Ian Fennelly, Simo Capecchi, Nina Johansson and Reham Ali.

The novelty of the 2021 edition is to join eleven reference authors and writers of the Portuguese language, from different generations, to the journey across the country: Mia Couto, José Luís Peixoto, Dulce Maria Cardoso, Afonso Cruz, Gonçalo Cadilhe, Rui Cardoso Martins, Sérgio Godinho, Marcela Costa, Matilde Campilho, Joel Neto and Jacinto Lucas Pires. These authors will write Portugal, amplify the urban sketchers' drawings with their words and narratives and inspire future trips for Portuguese citizens and foreigners.

The Sketch Tour Portugal Reload begins in Madeira, from 20 to 25 April, and is hosted by the President of Turismo de Portugal, Luís Araújo, French sketch artist Charline Moreau and writer Marcela Costa.

As part of the recovery plan for tourism activity, this project aims to position Portugal in the shortlists of national and international tourists, and demonstrate that the destination is prepared to receive all those who wish to enjoy nature, heritage, culture and all the other assets that continue to make Portugal one of the destinations of choice.

Throughout 2021 the Sketch Tour Portugal Reload will write and draw Portugal, bring together national and foreign talent around the country and inspire future journeys through the different territories and experiences that the destination offers. A destination that welcomes all and respects all the differences of those who visit. An inclusive and sustainable destination, where better tourism is built for a better planet.
