VisitPortugal inspires once again the flagship event FTWeekend Festival, to be held on 20 May at the Kennedy Center's REACH, one of the most prestigious arts centres in the heart of Washington.
This year developed under the motto Where curious minds meet, the festival brings together the most influential speakers addressing relevant issues of today. This year there will be over 30 panel debates and presentations by big names in politics, economics, technology and the arts, such as Hillary Clinton, Salman Rushdie and Jamie Lee Curtis.
VisitPortugal collaborates, for the first time, with the US edition of this event, under the theme Be Inspired by VisitPortugal, pursuing the goal of growing in value in this strategic market that has registered very significant growth figures more recently.
Luís Araújo, President of Turismo de Portugal, shall participate in the panel What does luxury travel mean today? together with international travel agencies operating in the premium sector. In parallel, Jancis Robinson, wine columnist for the FT, and Julia Harding, also a wine expert, will present a unique tasting of the best Portuguese wines under the theme:" A tasting of Portugal's unsung yet exceptional wines". This is therefore an opportunity to promote Portugal as a wine tourism and literary tourism destination, with participants also being able to enjoy the best national gastronomic products.
This action is included in the promotion campaign of the Close to US tourist operation, which began in November 2022 with a takeover of the digital screens of Times Square in New York with images of Destination Portugal, associated with the launch event of the wax figure of Cristiano Ronaldo at Madame Tussauds.
