Visitportugal will partner for the first time with FTWeekend Festival, under the theme “Be Inspired by Visit Portugal”. The festival, where curious minds meet, will again be buzzing with big name debates, influential ideas and live performances including cooking demonstrations and a jazz band.
Setting examples of how it is possible to have better tourism for a better planet, Luis Araújo, the president of Turismo de Portugal, will be one of the speakers among laureates’ guests like the award-winning Chef Nuno Mendes, founder of London’s new Lisboeta restaurant, the legendary pro surfer Nic Von Rupp who has braved the record-breaking giant swells of Nazaré on the Portuguese coast. In addition, Jancis Robinson, FT Wine Columnist and Julia Harding, both Masters of Wine, will be hosting a unique tasting of the finest Portuguese wines.
These inspirational speakers will be joining over 100 other impressive guests including historian Simon Schama, fashion designer Emilie Wickstead, authors Monica Ali and Susie Boyt, mountaineer Kenton Cool, film director Stephen Frears, former Health Secretaries Jeremy Hunt and Matt Hancock, and BBC News presenter Mishal Husain.
The thousands attending FTWeekend, both in person and at Kenwood House Gardens, will also learn why Portugal is one of the most inspiring countries to visit.
