Generate business

Reactivate Tourism. Build the Future Action Plan

24.07.2023

Generating business is the third priority of the Reactivating Tourism | Building the Future Action Plan, which consists of generating business for companies, globally, in a scenario of strong international competition, in the context of which Portugal can and must take a leading role, stimulating markets, restoring connectivity, facilitating purchases, informing consumers.

// DESTINATION COMPETITIVENESS

Portugal has established itself in recent years as one of the strongest brands from a tourism point of view, recognised as the best tourist destination in the world and bringing notoriety to the country and its products. Support for the promotion of the country, in order to stimulate and restore the image of Portugal, and support for the redoubled effort of international sales by companies in the sector, which allows them to consolidate more traditional markets (without which the recovery will not happen), invest in diversified segments and expand to new markets with greater added value, is therefore unavoidable.

Highlights:

_ Internationalising Tourism Programme
This programme aims to support the international promotion efforts of tourism companies. In this context, it is essential to ensure an information and knowledge base to guide national companies on their path to internationalisation.

_ Capacity Building Programme for International Trade
Publicising the new offer throughout the national territory, the collaborative networks scattered throughout the country, as well as the various themes focused on enhancing the destination is the basis of a more efficient and flexible system of information and training of the international trade. In this sense, stimulated by the tourism teams located in foreign markets, this programme will allow to increase this training, directing it to the segments of interest for the country.

_ Portugal Events
Attracting international events to Portugal has improved the country's position and that of many of its cities as a recognised destination for this type of event (see the inclusion in the TOP 10 of event organising countries by the International Congress and Convention Association).

// MOBILITY

Given the fact that the vast majority of international tourists arrive in Portugal by air, it is important to continue the policy of strengthening international air accessibility to our airports with an international dimension, promoting greater diversification of source markets and partners.
