Alumni of the Portuguese Tourism Schools network with 39 Michelin stars

Results that reflect the quality of training and the talent nurtured within the Turismo de Portugal network of schools: 

_ 3 chefs with two Michelin stars;
_ 13 chefs with one Michelin star;
_ 1 Recommended Chef;
_ 4 Bib Gourmand chefs;
_ 1 Young Chef Award;
_ 2 Best Sommeliers;
_ 1 Opening of the Year;
_ 14 recommended restaurants, whose chefs have also undergone training with Turismo de Portugal. 

At the close of the Michelin Portugal 2026 Gala, a number of alumni from the Turismo de Portugal school network were honoured. In total, between new awards in this edition and the renewal of existing distinctions, there were 39 awards linked to former students of the Turismo de Portugal schools. The Michelin Guide’s distinctions thus once again highlight the role of this network of schools in training highly qualified professionals, who today lead flagship projects and contribute to the recognition of Portuguese gastronomy around the world.

The distinctions achieved by alumni of the Turismo de Portugal schools:

// Among those honoured at the Michelin Portugal Gala 2026, special mention goes to Rui Silvestre, a former student of Portimão School and chef at Fifty Seconds, who has been awarded his second Michelin star. In this edition, João Mourato, an alumnus of Portalegre School and chef at the Quinta do Quetzal restaurant, has been added to the list of Recommended Chefs.

// The Michelin awards linked to former students of Coimbra School go to:
_ Tiago Bonito, chef at the Éon restaurant (Porto), awarded one Michelin star;
_ Bistrô Severo, recognised as a recommended restaurant;
_ Francisco Quintas, chef at the Largo do Paço restaurant (Amarante), earned a Michelin star and also received the Young Chef Award 2026;
_ Ricardo Costa, chef at The Yeatman, retained two stars;
_ Diogo Rocha, chef at Mesa de Lemos, retained one star;
_ Filipe Carvalho received the Opening of the Year award as chef at JNcQUOI Table (Lisbon), with JNcQUOI Table and JNcQUOI Fish also recognised as recommended restaurants;
_ Rita Magro, the chef who received a star at Blind in the previous edition, has now seen her restaurant Atrevo join the list of recommended restaurants;
_ João França, chef at Refeitro, and Marco Almeida, chef at the restaurant O Palco, have been included this year in the list of Bib Gourmand restaurants, whilst Dinis Martinho, of the restaurant Solar do Bacalhau, retained this distinction.

// Awards linked to  the Lisbon School
_ Rui Sequeira, a graduate of the Culinary Arts specialisation course and head chef at the Alameda restaurant, was awarded a Michelin star;
_ Ricardo Dias Ferreira, a graduate of the Cooking and Pastry course and head chef at Gastro by Elemento, was also awarded a star;
_ David Luís, chef at Mapa restaurant, Alexandre Silva, chef at Loco restaurant, Paulo Morais, chef at Kanazawa restaurant, and Carlos Teixeira, chef at Herdade do Esporão, retained their Michelin stars;
_ Diogo Caetano, from Terruja restaurant, and João Rodrigues, from Canalha restaurant, retained their Bib Gourmand status;
_ Ricardo Luz (Authentic), Ana Moura (Gamelas) and Guilherme Sousa (Terroir) retained their status as recommended restaurants.

// The following chefs have been recognised by Douro Lamego School:
_ Nuno Fonte, chef at Deraiz restaurant, and Diogo Coimbra, chef at Camilo Porto restaurant, have been added to the list of recommended restaurants;
_ Carlos Monteiro, of Casa de Chá da Boa Nova, was awarded the Best Sommelier prize;
_ Luís Moreira, chef at OMA restaurant, received the Bib Gourmand distinction.

// Porto School counts the following distinguished figures among its alumni: 
_ Tiago Dias, chef at Antiqvum restaurant, retained two stars and received the jacket;
_ Diogo Formiga, chef at Encanto restaurant, earned a Michelin star;
_ Marlene Vieira, chef at Marlene restaurant, Hugo Rocha, chef at Oculto restaurant, and Arnaldo Azevedo, chef at Villa Foz restaurant, retained their Michelin stars;
_ Marc Pinto, of Fifty Seconds restaurant, retained his distinction as Sommelier.

// The Michelin distinctions linked to former students of Algarve School have been awarded to:
Diogo Pereira, chef at Coral in Porches; João Viegas, chef at Mesa Farta in Tavira; and Leandro Araujo, chef at Cafezique, who have all been included in the list of recommended restaurants

A series of distinctions that highlight the excellence of the training provided by the network of Escolas do Turismo de Portugal and its consistent contribution to nurturing talent, reflected in the affirmation of Portuguese gastronomy at the highest international standards and in the growing recognition of the country as a leading destination. ​
