Close To US: VisitPortugal campaign takes over Times Square

​​​On Friday, 18 November, Turismo de Portugal will start a strong Plan for the Promotion of Portugal in the United States of America, a strategic market for the development of national tourism.

In this context, the VisitPortugal brand will be activated, which, in addition to a series of other actions, will include the “take over” of all digital billboards in New York's emblematic Times Square.

At 6 p.m. local time, and for one hour, all the screens in the emblematic New York square will broadcast content from the Close to US campaign, promoting the diversity of the national tourist supply, based on Portugal's main assets as a tourist destination, as well as passing on the message that the tourism of the future is done in a responsible and sustainable way, contributing to a better planet. 

With the “Close to US” campaign, launched just before Thanksgiving week, Turismo de Portugal hopes to impact around 500 million people worldwide at a time when, associated with the Black Friday tradition, there is a greater predisposition to book trips.

This initiative of Turismo de Portugal takes place within the framework of the launch event of the latest wax figure of Madame Tussauds New York: Cristiano Ronaldo.​
