All municipalities in the district of Braga signed protocols under the Formação +Próxima Programme, in a total of 14 signed in the district. The recent signature, on 3 May 2023, of 9 new protocols made it possible to complete the adhesion of this region to the Turismo de Portugal’s initiative that aims to train 75,000 professionals in the sector by 2025, free of charge and adapted to local needs.
Launched in January 2022, the programme has already been joined by 45% of Portuguese municipalities, where 401 training actions have been carried out tailored to each territory. With regard to themes, Catering and Beverages, Communication and Marketing lead the choices of participants, with emphasis on training in Wine Service in Catering and Digital Marketing.
Given its relevance, Formação +Próxima is part of the Agenda for Tourism Professions, promoted by the Ministry of Economy and the Sea to promote the growth of qualifications, the attractiveness of professions and the number of tourism professionals. Inserted in the priority axis “Qualify” is a project that is already underway to provide training offers adapted to new trends and the market.
Formação +Próxima is a project aimed at entrepreneurs, managers, middle managers and operational staff in Tourism. Developed by the Schools of Turismo de Portugal, in partnership with the municipalities as agents closest to the local realities, it is based on a diagnosis that a training plan is created that responds to the needs of the tourist activity of the respective municipality and a complementary plan that contributes to the valorisation of the territory and to the training of the technicians of the municipality and / or partner entities.
