// Framework

Inserted in Pillar 4 - P4.2 Knowledge and Qualifications of the Reactivate Tourism. Build the Future Action Plan, the Formação +Próxima Programme is a measure that aims to massively train employees in the sector, in a closer way and according to the methodologies used over the last year: digital and face-to-face training, with content adapted to the needs of the future, throughout the national territory and adapted to the diversity of tourism companies.
The tourism activity has, over the years, been based on a model of low qualifications and, consequently, low wages, so the structural changes in the sector in recent years and those expected for the coming years require a profound change in the levels of qualifications in this activity.

// Objectives

To train companies in the “art of hospitality", through the development of training content in the areas of soft and hard skills, in a programme developed by the Schools of Turismo de Portugal, in partnership with the municipalities, as agents closer to the local realities and mobilisers of the strategic change that is intended to be achieved in the territory in which they operate.

The programme aims to decentralise tourism training and adapt it to local needs, throughout the national territory, to the diversity of companies in the sector and extendable to the entire tourism value chain, in a training programme that is closer to the people and the needs of the territories. It is also proposed to be an instrument for attracting talent, qualifying people from other sectors and/or unemployed people who want to enter the tourism sector.
