Students from the Turismo de Portugal’s Schools win gold, silver and bronze medals in 11 categories

At the closing of the 35th edition of the Annual Conference & Competitions of the European Association of Hotel and Tourism Schools (AEHT), Portugal won 4 medals in the different categories, in one of the most prestigious European competitions in the tourism and hotel sector, at the event that took place from 17 to 22 October, organised by Istituto Istruzione Superiore Panzini Senigallia (Italy).  

 The initiative highlights the fact that all competitions are carried out by teams composed of members of different European nationalities, which have briefing and preparatory work sessions with the aim of empowering and enabling a better articulation among its members. This 35th edition had 800 participants from 22 European countries, of which 400 were students, competing in 11 competition modalities.

At the end of this edition, Portugal received the following medals: 

 _ Gold | Luísa Brum | Hotel Management Competition | Porto School 

_ Silver | Matilde Pestana | Front Office Competition | Porto School 

_ Silver | Marco Teixeira | Wine Service Competition | Lamego School 

_ Bronze | Afonso Silva | Culinary Arts Competition | Lamego School

​Other categories competing: barista, cocktail, decathlon, patisserie, restaurant service, tourist destination and strategic thinking. 

During the closing celebrations of the 35th edition, there was also time for the traditional ceremony of passing the association flag, which was under the responsibility of the Italian team that organised this year's event and which is now in the hands of the Lithuanian team, responsible for the organisation of the 36th edition that will be held in Vilnius in 2023. 

 AEHT is the largest association of hotel and tourism schools in Europe, gathering more than 300 schools in most European countries.

The Turismo de Portugal’s Schools have been founding members since 1988 and are currently the presiding entity of the Association, in the person of Ana Paula Pais, Director-Coordinator of Training at Turismo de Portugal, who is in office until 2025.
